Passed peacefully surrounded by song, family and friends.
Kathleen will be remembered for her generous heart, and her beautiful spirit. She was a dedicated social work instructor, counsellor, and advocate for social justice. She was a supportive ally for family, students, and friends alike. She touched many lives and will be remembered lovingly. She is survived by her loving husband Don, her two daughters Maia and Serena, her grand children Kyrus, Madrid, Rowan, and Cooper, her siblings Anna and David Vamvakius.
Kathleen has been laid to rest among the trees in the Burgoyne Valley Natural Cemetery.

Dear family of Kathleen Amina, I am very moved by the write up of her life and send you my good thoughts. I didn’t know her. The story is I ordered a used book, Spiritual Walk and Dance. In it was the name Amina Kathleen. I think this was her book (if it wasn’t it still led me to her life memories posted here which are wonderful). She and I would have been friends. We both have been in helping professions. And mostly I found a kindred spirit who pressed a leaf and an newspaper article about Dances in her book. I will treasure these. I thought you’d like to know that the book made its was to Kansas. I live just across the state line from Kansas City. I wanted a copy of this book as a young, new Dance leader will be given it by me to use and grow with. She is one of mainstays of an intentional urban service community here. So Kathleen Amina’s legacy will live on thru them and me in continuing the joy I see in the smile in her picture. Thank you so much for connecting us.
