Tribute

Robin Cheryl Lee Fleming

August 16, 1960 – January 20, 2020

It is with heartfelt sorrow that we must declare our sad news that Robin has passed away. Beloved daughter, avid volunteer, and best friend; generous, kind, and loving. Cremation and memorial services were held at the Cowichan Valley Crematorium on February 7, 2020. Robin’s death is a profound loss for those of us who came to love her. Deeply missed. Always remembered.

You’re always with me even when we’re apart. Whenever we’re apart and I’m feeling all alone, I close my eyes and think of all the happiness we’ve known. And somehow, I feel better then because I clearly see. Since I hold you close within my heart, you’re always here with me. – Emily Matthews

In Memoriam:

On March 14, 2020, with immense sadness, accompanied by grieving family and friends, we laid our beloved children, Robin & Mitchell, to rest at the St. Mary’s Anglican Church Cemetery in the Fulford Valley, Salt Spring Island. Interment services honoring their lives were held by the Reverend Gyllian Davies.

Don’t think of her as gone away-
her journey has just begun.
Life holds many facets,
the earth is only one.
Just think of her as resting
from the sorrows and the tears.
In a place of warmth and comfort,
where there are no days or years.
Think how she may be wishing,
that we could know today,
how nothing but our sadness
can really pass away.
And think of her as living
in the hearts of those she’s touched.
For nothing loved is ever lost-
And she was loved so much.

It’s with a heavy heart that I must say goodbye now; much too soon. Though life is knowing when to let go, for nothing’s really gone. Forever in my heart she’ll have a place next to my dad. I can be happy that a brother and sister have been reunited in the ether of life. I always know family is walking alongside my journey in life.
My sincere condolences go to my grandma and grandpa, so much sorrow has happened but I guess you can not have the highs without the lows. Like a swell in a wave, nature teaches us many lessons. My love goes to all.

We’ve lost a fine and vibrant woman in Robin. I always enjoyed talking with her – and wish I had done so more. We had many interesting discussions. I recall one time she said she would love to become an astronaut. While trying not to discourage her, I said it was a difficult thing to do, especially the G-test. I told her of Canadian astronaut-to-be was tested, whoe just walked out of the centrifuge (others fall or get lifted out). The testers were so amazed they hired him on the spot. Now, I’ve seen she did what was maybe the next best thing. Her hobby with STARFLEET was a way of achieving here passion. I was so happy to hear this – and that she was so proficient at it. She proudly stated, and rightly so, she was captain of her own ship. I understand this is a considerable accomplishment. I was so pleased for her. And I‘ll miss her. I regret she was so far away.
Robin was an extremely positive person, a trait we could all cultivate. For this I looked up to her. To me she was always cheerful and gentle. We won’t be able to replace her.
Well, she rests now, and we’ll all join her later. We love you Robin.

My Beloved Cousin,
I am so sad for your passing; you left too soon. Your life has inspired me; your keen intelligence, your kind and giving heart, and your dedication.
May you rest in Peace.

It was a pleasure working with your in STARFLEET. I enjoyed taking your courses and then enjoyed the chats we had regarding my courses in Physics when you took them. I could tell from your questions you were genuinely interested in the topic and I really enjoyed explaining the concepts to you. You left us too soon as I had more I wanted to tell you on the topic of Physics. You will be missed my friend.

I was shocked to learn that Robin had passed away. She was very active in Starfleet Academy. She graded many of my exams, and although she had many duties in the Academy, she always took time to exchange e-mail letters with me. I extend my sympathy to her family.
