Tribute
Maureen McGillis July 19, 1930 – March 21, 2021
Maureen was a wonderful person who led a very full life. For the last three years Alzheimer’s had been robbing her of her memories and her abilities, however, her spirit was untouched. She remained happy, loving, funny and incredibly kind.
Maureen is survived by her loving husband of almost 69 years, Joe McGillis and their eight children: Jo-Anne(Roger), Hugh(Sheila), Sheila, Don(Ingrid), Rob, Ian, Maggie(Kim) and Danny. They have 13 grandchildren who will all miss their Nana: Erik(Karolina), Emma(Dave), Kelsey(Rob), Bernie(Becky), Ashley, Breanne(Tyson), Jesse(Ryan), Katie(Adam), Quinn, Justine, Kirsten(Stewart), Hailey(Tim) and Ali(Jacob). They also had five great-grandchildren: Sonya, Lily, Avery, Theo and Miles.
Maureen was predeceased by all her siblings, Kay, Eileen, Hugh and Pat, she was also predeceased by her son-in-law Jack.Maureen’s grandchildren have been left a chronicle of her life growing up on an Ontario farm during the depression. Maureen wrote and illustrated “Nana’s Story” which will be appreciated even more, now that we’ve lost her.
Everyone loved her.

I was so sorry to hear about Maureen. Chub and I thoroughly enjoyed our visits when we would get together with Maureen and Joe in Port Hope. Lots of wonderful memories over the years. Thinking of you and your family at this time.
Love,
