Glen Alexander Mackenzie
Tribute
It is with profound sadness that we share the loss of (Alexander) Glen MacKenzie at age 63.
A proud, beyond words, father, son, brother, husband, uncle, nephew and friend to many, Glen grew up in Vancouver and Point Roberts and graduated in 1980 from Prince of Wales High School.
He was born to explore, and drawn to adventure at every turn. He was unafraid of being alone and surviving through whatever life presented. He was an accomplished private and commercial pilot, attending Selkirk College of Aviation and then starting his own charter company bush flying the Yukon where he lived for 10 years.
He faced challenge and danger on a daily basis and was a sought-after pilot with clients who would fly only with him. Such was their trust in his ability to fly with calm confidence.
Glen was a fearless downhill and cross-country skier, scuba diver, surfer, soccer and lacrosse player, and was voted captain of his soccer team.
His love for planes and boats was a testament to his immense need for freedom, and the beauty of fresh air and nature in all its glory.
He is survived by his children Alexander and Nicola, (ex-wife Michele MacKenzie), father Tom MacKenzie (Lorinne), and aunt Jill Soleway.
Glen was a gentlemen and a leader and he was taken too soon. He will be missed by many.
A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
