Cindy Marie Dayneswood (McIntyre)
January 4, 1954 - August 19, 2024
Tribute
Cindy Dayneswood made her final transition in the early hours of August 19th, 2024, after a long & courageous battle with cancer.
Cindy was known for her kind, caring & humorous personality whose life was filled with her love & devotion to God, her family & friends. She had a tremendous passion for the service towards others & always made the time to assist when needed. Most of all she will be remembered for her gift of listening & understanding other perspectives without judgement or recrimination.
Cindy is survived by her loving husband Ian, her four children Rachel, Hannah, Daniel & Naomi and their spouses, her ten grandchildren, Alice, Toby, Nico, Aidan, Isaiah, Oliver, Shana, Mathias, Ezra, Asher & her sister Penny Shillingford. Cindy was an integral part of her family & friends lives & although those close to her knew the inevitable outcome of her illness, her passing still remains an agonizing shock! She & her husband had recently moved to the Comox Valley & had many plans for exploring Vancouver, meeting new friends, welcoming out of town visitors & happily residing in their new home. Cindy was not yet 70 years old when diagnosed!
Cindy was born on January 4th 1954 in Whitehorse to Gordon & Blanche McIntyre & lived in the Yukon until her family moved to Vancouver in 1959 when Cindy was just 5 1/2 years old. There she attended various elementary schools & graduated from Burnaby Central High School in 1971. Soon after she followed her inherent compassionate nature & attained her license as a Practical Nurse (LPN) at Vancouver General Hospital. She then went on holiday to England & decided to stay on to take Registered Nurses training at St. Richard’s General Hospital in Chichester. It was there that she met her future husband, Ian & after graduation they wed and had four children during their marriage, all born in West Sussex, England.
After 14 years Cindy returned with her family to Canada in 1988 & lived in Kelowna BC where she busily continued to raise her children as well as contribute to her community & Church. On March 5, 2002 she was ordained Reverend Cindy Dayneswood under the spiritual leadership of the Kelowna Christian Center. At last she had successfully achieved both of her early childhood goals of becoming a nurse or a doctor & church pastor.
After fifteen years in the Okanagan, Cindy & Ian relocated to Gibsons BC on the Sunshine Coast where they enjoyed life by the sea until they decided to downsize & move to Courtenay in 2021. Cindy loved music, liked to write short stories, skits (the sillier the better), plan events, spend time with her beloved grandchildren, travelling with Ian & enjoyed her time at home cooking & baking. We shall miss her treats, her creative energy, her talent for finding joy in absurdity & her love of the simple pleasures in life.
“Death ends a life, not a relationship. All the love you created is still there. All memories are still there. You live on – in the hearts of everyone you have touched & nurtured while you were here.”
-Mitch Albom
