With great sadness, we share the loss of our dear colleague and friend, Basil Chow. Basil was known for his kindness, generosity, and unwavering presence. He was the owner and head chef at the Salt Spring Inn for 16 years and his sudden passing unfortunately comes less than a year into his retirement.
Basil’s passing has left a large hole in our Salt Spring Inn family as he lovingly supported all of us and our families. He will be deeply missed by all of us and his many friends throughout the community. He will be remembered with love and gratitude.

We invite you to join us to celebrate the life of Basil Chow, at the Salt Spring Inn on Tuesday October 7th from 3:00 pm – 5:30 pm.
Please spread the word to family, friends and all those who cared for Basil and feel free to bring photos, stories and memories to share.
There will be complimentary snacks and refreshments and the bar will be open for purchasing alcoholic beverages.
Our restaurant will be closed for the whole day of Tuesday October 7th

Basil Chow was no ordinary person who just worked a 9 to 5 o’clock job for the rest of his life. Under his quiet manner and composure, he develop a characteristic equal to a person of great patience. In particular, his entrepreneur spirit to leave his safe home in North Vancouver guided by a goal of being independent in a new frontier of his own motivation & to be self-support in a promise land called Salt Spring Island in the south Gulf Island of British Columbia. This destination was his paradise, because the people of this community supported his venture with smiles and joy.
