Tribute

Alex was a lovely girl and I (Tony) a lucky boy.

Mother, Lover, Wife, Partner, Sister, Auntie, Friend, Traveler, Teacher, Sailor, Swimmer, Reader, Hunter / Gatherer, Woodworker, Caregiver, Potter, Hippy Chick, Knitter, Shell Collector, Gardener, Camper, Canner, Fringe Fan, Film Fan.

Constantly on the search for the perfect primitive hot spring and the best chocolate almond croissant , travelling and sharing life with Alex was always exciting and rewarding.

Always patient, kind and generous, Alex was an advocate of youth and a lover of the arts.

After a short struggle with cancer, Alex left us to soon but peacefully at home on a sunny October day surrounded by her family in a room full of love.

Always resolutely following her own path she emigrated from the UK at 19 and Married Martin Golder.

Martin and Alex raised their two wonderful children together, moving in 1981 by school bus from Ontario to Vancouver and onto Victoria.

Later in life, she met and fell in love with another sailor and moved to Salt Spring in 1998 where she played a significant part in raising two more wonderful children. Here on Salt Spring Alex provided home care for a number of locals many of whom became great friends, she travelled and sailed extensively and followed many of her artistic pursuits.

Alex is survived by Martin Golder, father of their two children. Children Melanie and Michael, Grand children Ayja, Oliver and Charlotte. Tony’s children Heather and Graham. Partner Tony Meek.

A special heartfelt thank you to Dr. Slakov, Nurse Israel, Angela Huser, Karen Hunsberger and all the staff at Lady Minto Hospital.

A huge thank you to the lovely ladies who filled our home with love, flowers, food and hugs.

Last but not least a powerful hug to those remarkable men who filled our home and lives with their support, generosity and thoughtfulness.

Alex was a lovely girl, and I was a lucky boy.

“The life of Alex “ celebration will be held at 117 Fairway drive from 10am to 4 pm November 19 BYO what ever you like .
